An ambient, mobile game

We set out to create a unique gaming experience in the design space of the ubiquitous mobile phone. Our goals were to provide a unique social experience in everyday space while maximizing access by avoiding the need to download and install code on individual phones.

details
We deployed the use of DTMF (a.k.a. dial tones) as controlling signals for our game. In order to focus our energies on the development of the control system, we chose to develop a Pac-Man clone. However, in this game up to four players control the ghosts, working together to capture the gluttonous Pac-Man.

result
Our tests at the Georgia Tech student center were a hit, as a result we were asked to demo our project at the Living Game Worlds Symposium. We successfully delivered a unique and unexpected gaming experience for visitors to the symposium.
